The ultimate spa day at home guide...
Do you fancy some pampering but aren’t ready to splash out on salon facials, pro pedicures, and other expensive treatments? It's time for a spa day at home. All you need is a date night with yourself to unwind and indulge in self-care.
At East&Essex, we believe that every woman deserves to feel beautiful without having to spend a fortune. Give yourself some love with our simple 4-step guide to an affordable, yet luxurious DIY spa day at home.
Step 1: Set the Mood for Your Spa Day at Home
First things first, you can’t have a spa day at home without the right “spa” atmosphere. To find relaxing music, search for ready-made playlists on the streaming platform of your choice.
Smells present another important part of the spa ambiance, so light a nice-smelling candle or use your favourite essential oil.
Step 2: Set Up the Home Spa Day Amenities
Once you’ve mastered the sound and the smell of the spa, it’s time to prepare all the amenities you are going to need to make your DIY spa day experience unforgettable.
One of the easiest spa amenities to recreate at home is infused water. Simply flavour a pitcher of water with citrus and cucumbers, mint and strawberries, or your favourite berries to keep you hydrated and make your DIY spa day at home even more special.
Take out your favourite bathrobe, your fluffiest towels, and your best slippers - with everything you choose, aim for a comfort and luxury feel. Ideally, you will also want to have something just as comfortable to wear for after the spa procedures, - we recommend going with our E&E signature oversized shirt dress, the perfect loungewear to feel gorgeous without sacrificing the comfort.
Step 3: Choose Your DIY Spa Treatments
The ambiance is set and you have everything you need ready, so now is the perfect time for a few unwinding DIY spa treatments.
Some of our favourite at-home treatments include:
- Deep-conditioning hair mask. You can create your own deep-conditioning treatment to restore hair shine and softness by applying coconut or olive oil (straight from the kitchen!) to your hair. Use a wide-tooth comb to distribute the oil over the dry hair evenly and let it sit for a bit under the plastic shower cap.
- A sheet face mask. Infused with beneficial ingredients and with ready cutouts for your nose, eyes, and mouth, sheet masks present an affordable, mess-free solution. Apply the mask to a freshly cleansed face.
- A disposable eye mask or patches. Place eye patches below the sheet mask to combat redness, puffiness, or eye fatigue. Go for patches that contain the extracts of cucumber, caffeine, or liquorice root.
- At-home mani and pedi. Give your hands and feet a TLC makeover. Before jumping into the bathtub, file and shape your nails and, at the end of the spa night, massage your hands and feet with a rich cream to seal in moisture.
Step 4: Have a Good Soak
DIY spa treatments can get messy, so a steamy bath or a hot shower is a must to finish off the night. If you decide to go with a bath, you can add two cups of Epsom bath salt to soothe achy muscles and help reduce water retention.
Finally, rinse off, moisturise your entire body with rich cream containing cocoa or shea butter, and get into your favourite E&E signature shirt to conquer the rest of the day.
While it is easy to get lost in important day-to-day tasks and unavoidable responsibilities, don’t be afraid to take a little time for yourself. A simple DIY spa day at home is the perfect recipe to leave you feeling rejuvenated, refreshed, and ready for new achievements.
